Aquatint Black

I have made a dark theme using the Aquatint icon set. You can down load it from the previous link or go to the Sandbox area of the firefox add-ons page. I would really appreciate it if you could leave feedback in the Sandbox in order to help me get it approved for public down load. There are a couple of small issues with this theme right now but overall it works just fine. The problems are mainly text color issues that I need to locate and fine tune. Please leave feedback, especially suggestions on how to improve it.

Nice theme.

First issue i can see:
-the options in extensions and themes are not viewable until you click in them.

I think it is a very cool theme. It is very slick and stylish, I hope Mozilla testers come through and let you publish it. Oh, I was wondering where could I post a request for a Mozilla theme? I would definitely like to see a Spider-man theme. I think it would be popular with a lot of users of Firefox. Thanks and good luck

One thing I noticed that when you have the Color Tabs 2 extension active you can barely see the title of the link which is gray. I am sure I can change the options on Color Tabs and fix it but I thought you should know

I think this is a really great color scheme...I just wish I could get my browser to use it. I download it and I get the message to restart Firefox and when it loads back up its still the same color. Any tips would be great. I've tried it three different times and I can't figure what I'm doing wrong!

Maybe you can try to remove Firefox from your computer and install it again.....I guess it is worth a shot

The cookie authorization window has black text on a dark (purple?) background. It is completely unreadable. Too bad as everything else looked great...

I love this theme! Right now I am using your Bible Fox Blue theme, but only just now discovered you did this Aquatint Black as well. Keep up the great work!

Well done! Aquatint looks great. As others have pointed out, there are some issues that need work, but overall, great job. The biggest issue for me is the inability to view extensions & themes in the Add-ons section. Also I would ask if there can't be a compromize for the active tab appearance. Something between the old neon blue bar of the previous version, and the new look, which is SO subtle, that have difficulty sometimes seeing the active tab. Personally, I liked the old look, I just wish the neon blue look was a tiny bit thinner.

Thanks for your work on this theme.

Oh yeah, and PLEASE consider a Thunderbird version of this theme. It would be great!

Any way to adjust the seriously small font for the tabs and bars?

Unknown said...

I prefer the smaller font on a dark theme, and think it should remain the default. However Bodizzle has placed instructions for changing to a larger font on the Aquatint Black Mozilla page.

Is there any way that you could just change the blue colors to a green? This theme is wonderful and I love it, but green instead of blue would go a lot better with my computers over all theme. Thanks.

First, I really like the theme, but I have come across a strange issue. Now I tested this on two separate installations, both latest Firefox release. The Bookmarks Toolbar, is only half black, the bottom half. The top half of the bar is white?

Outstanding Theme, love it, and it matches my XP theme extremely well. Everything seems to be working properly with the exception of one thing: My bookmarks toolbar is white (unskinned). I'm wondering if it is having issues with another add-on; specifically the "Thinger" extension. (http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/Thinger)

Maybe it's something else, but I suspect this might be the culprit.

Hi Brett

I am using Aquatint black with my Firefox, I like it very much, but I have a problem with the menu and fonts colors of the top bar.

If I set the colors fonts (of the windows menus) in white, as the Aquatint Black top bar is black I can see the menu fonts clearly.
But in others programs whose menus have windows menu settings of light colors I can't see clearly the menu fonts.

So I think the fonts colors for the top black bar in Aquatint black, must be fixed to white
(as in Aquabird black theme for Thunderbird, where the menus are black with white fonts
independent of the windows menu colors) So we can see the fonts in the menus clearly.

If there is any way to do this with the actual version please, tell me. If not, I'm waiting for an update.
In the hope that this would help you, I shall look forward to your reply.
Thank you.

Best regards

This theme is one of the sweetest ones I have ever seen for Firefox. I love gray/black high contrast color schemes! I do have one suggestion though. I just installed the new Zune desktop theme for Windows XP, and this Firefox theme matches it almost perfectly. The only request I have is to change the blue accents to orange to match the Zune theme accent color. If you could make a variation of this one for the Zune, that would be absolutely perfect!

Dig the new theme. Makes it easier on the eyes.

Like it -- agree with the ColorTabs comment, hard to read tabs.

I'm sure its another plugin, but what do I do to enable the horizontal scroll bar for open tabs?

Thanks!!!!!

To ivorycruncher

Check out my zune theme that I put together. It has different icon buttons but I think it looks better than the aquatint buttons did in orange. You should like it. I am still working on it to get it perfect but it should work well enough as it is before I finish the final update.

Nice job! In fact, I like every theme you've made; you consistently do fine work. Would it at all be possible for you to do an Aquatint Black with green glass? I would love to have one.
Thanks,
~C.

Cool theme, can I use it as a basis for a theme I want to develop for the school I graduated from?

Brett said...

mdpoke,

Definitely. That is what open source stuff is all about.

What school are you going to do one for?

Jim said...

Oklahoma State University. I'm going to try and use expired logos so I don't have trademark issues.

Question how would you add a graphic next to the Help menu? There is a lot of room there and I would like to add Oklahoma State University in that space.

First off, I love this theme. One problem I've found, however: when I download files of unknown file size, the download window keeps expanding and expanding until the file finishes downloading and then it goes back to normal size. If you could look at this, that would be great. Thanks, and keep up the great work!
